How To Prepare For Your Countertop Design Meetings With Alpha Surfaces

You've decided that a new countertop is right for you, and you've made an outstanding choice to use a beautiful, natural stone surface. At Alpha Surfaces, we promise that we're just as excited about that fact as you are.

These days, there are more stones, textures, colors, patterns, and finishes to choose from than ever before. Instead of navigating all these options by yourself only to still wonder if you’ve made the right choice, partner with a countertop contractor who’s an expert in natural stone surfaces.

If you're ready to set up a countertop design meeting with the surface pros at Alpha Surfaces, chances are you're wondering what to expect when we work together. If that’s the case, then you’ve come to the right place. Take a look at this guide covering everything you should expect at your countertop design meetings with Alpha.

Step 1: Project Overview Meeting

There's no doubt that these days, it can be trickier than ever to set up a safe, convenient meeting with contractors. For our customer’s convenience, we offer project overview meetings in person, on a Zoom call, or over the phone.

During our first countertop design meeting, we’ll talk about the scope of your project. This is a great time to tell us about which room(s) you’d like to add natural stone to, your timeline, style preferences, color choices, which material you’d like to use, edge styles you like, and more. We love this kind of meeting because it’s where all of the fun, creative parts of the countertop design happen!

If you’re working with a designer, make sure they join this meeting. However, you’re certainly not required to work with a designer. We’ve helped many homeowners manage their countertop renovation themselves.

At the end of the meeting, we’ll schedule our second meeting, which is best to do in person or over Zoom because we’ll be reviewing countertop designs based on our conversation at this first meeting.

Our countertop designs will have multiple stone options, edges, and finishes for your new surface. Other aspects of your room design, such as flooring or cabinets are not included in our countertop design. However, we’re happy to suggest a trusted designer or other contractors who can assist with the other areas of your renovation.

Step 2: Review Designs and Quotes

Our second countertop design meeting is an in-depth review and discussion of the countertop designs we’ve created. We’ll also go over the quotes for each option to help you understand the price breakdown. You can ask as many questions as you need and we can also make any changes or additions to land on your ideal countertop design. However, keep in mind that additions or expansions to the scope of the project may need a new quote.

We know that settling on your perfect countertop takes time, so after this meeting, we’ll let you (and your designer, if you’re working with one) have some time to consider your options and make a decision.

Step 3: Select Your Stone

After you settle on a countertop design and accept your quote, it’s time to start shopping for your surface! You can shop solo, with your designer, or with us. We’re happy to join you in person or show you stone options virtually with photos or videos.

Now is also the right time to start shopping for any new appliances that you’re installing or share measurements with us for any appliances or cabinets that you’re reusing.

Once you’ve chosen your stone and shared your appliance and cabinet measurements with us, it’s time to template your countertop and schedule an installation date.

Step 4: Get Ready For Your Installation Date!

We'll get you on our calendar for a date and time that's most convenient for you. We make sure to reach out at least 24 hours in advance of your countertop installation to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Then, it's time for us to arrive on-site and complete your project!
